Project AnA
Hi All,
Thought I would post some exclusive stuff on here to give you a first look in on my project. I have had my 98 S8 for 3 years now and still don't even think of changing it. I am however a serial modder and I have found myself on a number of occasions with the car in bits and a journey to undertake; both mutually exclusive. When my engine went west o a trip up to A8Parts (spooky) I ended up buying and installing a replacement engine. There is a thread on said swap here.
What this meant is that I ended up with one of these:-
Which I did this to:-
Having done that and found 16 of these:-
I gave the heads to this nice man:
from:-
Who did all sorts of clever stuff like this:-
Which is called polishing and porting.
Now the reason I wanted to do this is because I had bought this:-
For £500 with a duff engine, that turned out not to be that duff but just needed one of these:-
An oil cooler. Of course the nasty people at Audi wouldn't sell me one; but suggested I buy the upgraded version for enough money to buy them all new super yachts. Fortunately I found an upgraded one in Holland and another nice man sold it me an the engine was sold for the equivalent of twice what I paid for the car! Result.
Now I had this:-
and my AHC being rebuilt when I came across this:-
which cost me the profit I made selling the engine! Another result.
And so Project AnA was born. Since then I have added 2 of these:-
and 4 of these:-
I have given the car to a funny man who I hope is a clever nice man who is doing stuff with hammers and dollys and air cutting tools and sheet ally and filers and paint and compressed air.
I have given the interior to another nice man who I hope is also cleaver who is doing stuff with leather and sewing and carpets and stuff. See more stuff, useful stuff stuff.
So as Stuff happens I'll update you all. I will also bring it to the Annual meet and hope it will be ready for Brunters.
Mike

Well the funny man who has the bodyshell seems to be quite good and has finished the first bit. He is slow but likes to do things right.

That wider at the front? Do you have enough clearance at the top of the engine with the charger on top?

Re: Project AnA
Another picture. The last weekend working on it was not a good one. Once the engine was out to investigate the dropped ring we found water in the oil. But, no surrender..........

Re: Project AnA
Things move forward and backward. We got the car back from Cool Blue Customs that were doing the bodywork eventually. It's 95% complete, but we needed to work on the drive train. Which caused us another backward step. I have a 98 block and a 97 autobox. In mid 97 they changed the design of the Torque Converter and I have trashed the dam thing! So a replacement TC is needed
However here are the photos of the bodywork..........
Hope you approve........................

Love the arches
Can't wait to see this beast in the flesh Mike. Got any shots of the front end with the new bumper?

Looking awesome Mike...
Is she going to live down south, or will she make it to the possibly best driving country in the world? Got some great roads you could take her to that are a bit further out.

Only in NA form but the AHC growls again:
As I was fixing this only 5 hours before:
But one turn of the key and Ben's genius unfolds:
